OCTOBER

31/10/15

ROCHFORD ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR AND HALLOWEEN - There has been many comments in the media and on the Caring about Rochford Face Book site over recent months regarding Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) in the Rochford area. The Police have been very proactive over the last month carrying out foot, cycle and mobile patrols in Rochford and Hockley gathering evidence and Intelligence on those responsible. In the lead up to Halloween we have been carrying out home visits to those that have had the most detrimental affect on the Community. Community Protection Notices have been served in some cases that place restrictions on the recipients going to certain places and being with certain people. We continue to carry out patrols and deal with issues that arise. We would ask parents to talk to their children, know where they are, who they are with and perhaps most importantly what they are doing as Police will be taking robust action against those causing the Community distress. Whilst some may think their actions and behaviour is okay those on the receiving end may feel scared, intimidated and do not think it is okay. Please be respectful of others. If you see ASB or crime being committed please call 101 to report, the Neighbourhood Policing Team mobile phone is no longer in use. We wish everyone a safe, happy and fun Halloween.   Steve JUDD PC 917 - Rochford Neighbourhood Policing Team

Avoid becoming a victim of arson. If possible, please hide your wheelie bins during Halloween and bonfire night celebrations.
This warning comes after a number of arson attacks since the 1st September 2015 in Essex. Between September 1st and October 24th, police investigated 12 reported incidents of bins being set on fire.
Sergeant Julie Mackay from Essex Police said: “In the run up to Halloween and bonfire night, we encourage residents and businesses to store all bins away to avoid them becoming a target for vandals and arsonists. This includes both wheelie bins and refuse containers.”
Advice from police includes not storing your wheelie bin close to a house, building or shed, not overfilling your bins or leaving loose rubbish around them and only placing your wheelie bin out on collection day. Do not store bins or rubbish by windows or doors, as if set alight, the fire could easily spread to the building.   If you see an unattended fire please ring 999 and ask for the fire service.
