Another Coffee Morning for Charity (4th May 2013)
With thanks from Julia to all those who attended this morning:

Fair Havens Hospice at Home coffee morning
(Lorraine Tullett writes)

Our annual fund raising event was organised by Julia Glover, a Nurse with Hospice @ Home Team. This became a joint effort with her friend Ana Colvil whose late husband had received respite care during the day and for some nights. Sadly, John passed away last November and Ana and her family wanted to give something back to the charity.

The coffee morning was held at Ashingdon United Free Church on Saturday May 4th from 1Oam till midday. The hall was decorated with cerise coloured balloons, buntings and pink Carnations on tables. There were a variety of home baked cakes, curry puffs and bacon rolls to tempt our supporters! The table top sale proved to be very popular with plants which were donated by a husband who wanted to show his gratitude to the Team when we took care of his late wife 5 years ago. There were lots of other goods as well.

There was a buzz in the hall as various groups arrived to enjoy the time together. For some, it was meeting with the Team members they had come to know well in the past. Surprisingly, Julia received a cash donation from a patient's family we had taken care of 7 years ago. Another patient's wife turned up to support us and she was 95 years old! lt was also a time for meeting old and new friends.

Through this event we raised £520 to enable us to give continued care and support to the Community. Six boxes of unsold goods went to the Fair Havens charity shop in Alexandra Road so everyone was a winner!
