The Aaron Lewis Foundation (ALF) gladly invites your rugby club to enter a team into the 2014 Aaron Lewis Rugby 10s Tournament, to be held at Westcliff Rugby Football Club on 21st of June 2014.

As the tournament reaches its 6th year, we are looking to boost the number of both competitive and social teams participating and hope that your club will support this tremendous organisation and enter a team in this fast-growing and charitable rugby competition.

The tournament was originally created by friends of Aaron Lewis – a Lieutenant in the 29 Commando Regiment, Royal Artillery; who was tragically killed on duty in the Helmand province of Afghanistan on the 15th of December 2008. He was killed just three months into his first deployment, nine days after his 26th birthday.

Aaron wanted to make a difference to the world, bringing help and hope to those in need. It was that belief which gave him the courage, hope and enthusiasm to deploy with the Commandos. The charity was originally set up to raise funds for a memorial that stands proudly outside of The Royal Citadel, home of 29 Commando Regiment, Aaron's regimental home. Now, the ALF is an organisation designed to raise money for carefully selected local and national charities.

Aaron's loss has been deeply felt worldwide but his passion for ‘making a difference’ is continuing fervently. To date, the ALF has raised a massive £194,000 for a variety of charities ranging from MSF to Dementia UK and The Plymouth Citadel in memory of Aaron and fellow fallen troops. Please help us to significantly increase this total in 2014!!

Team entry is £150 for a maximum squad of 15 players’, payable by the 31st of March 2014, or £200 for payments after this date. Clubs can enter multiple teams. Teams will also receive a crate of BEER to enjoy after the tournament (or during depending on how social your team is!) and BBQ vouchers. There will be a £1000 prize to the Cup Winners.

The tournament kicks off at 12.30 with the guns of The Royal Artillery Association, providing a fitting start to proceedings. The usual alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments will be available as well as children attractions, BBQs, stores and live music until late. A fun family day out for charity!!

If you are interested in entering a team, please email aarons10s_festival@hotmail.com for more information and payment details. We look forward to hearing from you.
