ANOTHER GREAT YEAR FOR THE ROTARY CLUB OF ROCHFORD CHRISTMAS COLLECTIONS

The Rotary Club of Rochford enjoyed another great year for its Christmas charity collections thanks to the continuing generosity of local people.

A total of £8,753.67 was collected in the streets of Ashingdon, Canewdon, Hawkwell, Hockley and Rochford and at static collections outside B & Q, Fossetts Way, Budgens in Rochford, The Factory Shop on Purdeys Industrial Estate, Morrisons at Western Approaches and Sainbury’s at Rayleigh Weir. The Club also assisted at the switch-on of the Christmas lights in Rochford.

The Club will be using the money raised to help many voluntary groups in the Rochford area.

Rotary President, Rotarian Nigel Williams, said, “As ever, we had a great response from the people in our area.  

Once again, the street collections proved very popular, with Santa and his Snowmen giving youngsters, and the not-so-young, an early taste of Christmas.  We are also very grateful to B & Q, Budgens, The Factory Shop, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s, for allowing us to collect outside their stores.  The amount of money collected will be used to help those less fortunate than ourselves in our local community.  Our club continues to seek new members who can spend an hour or two on Monday lunchtimes at Rochford Hundred Golf Club.  If you are interested please contact our Secretary, Keith Holdsworth on 01702 559246 or at keithholdsworth643@btinternet.com”.
