Launch of mobile app makes it even easier to report rubbish!
Rochford District Council has teamed up with waste contractors Sita UK and mobile application designers Love Clean Streets to make it even easier for residents to report cleanliness issues with the launch of a new smartphone app.
The mobile application, which can be downloaded for free at your smartphone devices’ store, means that residents can simply take a photograph of the mess and send it directly to the Council at the touch of a button.
Whether it’s litter, fly-tipping, dogs mess, cigarette butts or graffiti, the state of the art Love Clean Streets app lets you take a photo and the application will automatically find where you are and send the location and image straight to the Council’s Street Scene Team.
For residents in the District the app makes it easier to report environmental issues and for the Council it means we’re able to respond quicker to clear up mess.
You simply download the app for free from your device store. Then, while you are out and about and see a cleanliness issue you want to report, take out your phone, take a photo of it and the app will send it straight to the Council. From there we can dispatch street cleansing teams to clear up the mess.
Rochford District Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Councillor Mike Steptoe, said: “This app is a convenient way for our residents to let us know if they see litter or dog-fouling or any other unsightly mess that they want us to clear up. It’s free for residents to use and has come at no cost to the taxpayer and we have to thank our partners Sita UK and Love Clean Streets for the work they have done on it. Although obviously we would rather that the minority of people who think it’s fine to drop litter and leave dogs mess on the streets stopped, we think this will be a useful and convenient way of letting the vast majority of residents who enjoy living in a clean District to report mess and litter.”
Ian Blackburn from Love Clean Streets added: “The use of apps is becoming more and more a part of everyday life for many people. By harnessing the technological capability of the Love Clean Streets app to make it easier for the community to report litter, dog fouling and other cleanliness issues directly to the Council, we believe we have enhanced the level of service residents receive from Rochford District Council.”
