(Gliding Day + Crabbing on the Crouch)
4th Rochford Scouts Gliding Day!!!

A group of 11 Scouts aged just 10-
Conditions were absolutely perfect for an afternoon of Gliding over the beautiful countryside! Even a couple of the parents with 2 extra children were given the opportunity to take to the skies!
First of all though, they had to spend time in the Classroom to study airfield safety, the theory of flight, be able to name all the parts of the aircraft and understand how they worked and do a pre-
It wasn't all study though, as the kids had great fun building and flying their own model gliders! With supervision from the Hertfordshire Scouts Air Team, flights in the 2 seater gave them at least 20 minutes in the air, 10 minutes of which they actually flew the glider themselves!!! (Under instruction, of course!!!) This fun day out will go towards each child earning their Air Activities Badge Stages 3 & 4.
4th Rochford Cubs have fun Crabbing!!!

It was a lovely evening for 15 Cubs, 5 Parents and 1 Leader to meet outside the Anchor Pub in Hullbridge recently. Not for a pint and a packet of crisps as you might think, but to venture down to the waterside of the River Crouch, armed with crab-
The local swans thought they were in for a treat, but disappointed to find that the youngsters were only interested in crabbing!!!
There were squeals of delight from all the kids as the crabs took the bait and were pulled out of the water one after the other!
It was great fun releasing the crabs down the slipway to find their way safely back into the water! A thoroughly enjoyable activity!
