Rochford Scouts - March 2015

(Scroll down for High-flyers & Mothers Day Parade & Asda Bag Packing)

Organisations 4th Rochford Scouts

"Scouts become High-flyers

On a glorious March Sunday, ten scouts between 10 and 14 from 4th Rochford took to the air for their first gliding experience, courtesy of Hertfordshire Scouts Gliding team at Gransden Lodge Airfield. The day included building and flying a model glider to learn how an aircraft flies, navigation skills and airfield safety. Proud parents saw their sons and daughters strapped in before the glider was winched into the air, and flew off into the blue yonder. Each flight lasted around 20 minutes as the glider sailed in the thermals around the airfield. The weather was so good that there was time for flying more than once

Even though for some it was their first time in an aircraft, they all were able to say “I have control” to their instructor.

They all gained their Aeronautics Badge. Not bad for under £50!"

The Scouts celebrate Mothers Day - 15/3/15

About 20 young people took part in the Mothers Day Church Parade and their Mums were presented with pots of flowering primroses in a child-friendly service led by Rector Alan Hurd at St. Andrew's Church, Rochford.
