Rochford Scouts - March 2019 (2)

(Quiz Evening & Mothers Day Parade)

4th Rochford Scout Group's Fundraising "Bangers & Brains"!!!

Saturday 23rd March 2019

Over 80 people packed out the John Howard Scout Hall for a fantastic evening of family fun at the Quiz Nite! There were some wonderful Raffle Prizes all donated by local people & supporters of the Scout Group. The evening raised an amazing total of £672 to go towards improving the Car Park!

At halftime, everyone tucked heartily into the delicious Scout Sausage Supper, with 200 sausages, beans, onions & french bread being consumed!!!  Group Scout Leader/Quiz Master, Bill Neobard said, “It was good to see so many people there. It's great when the local community rallies round to support us”.

A charity Tin was also passed around amongst the Quizzers and a fantastic £90 was collected! The children from the Group’s 2 Cub Packs, Alpha & Omega have been collecting change recently by doing odd jobs at home and with this extra collection have so far raised £220 to go towards the Essex & Hertfordshire Air Ambulance. Once they have reached £250 they will be able to visit the Base to present them with the money! Just £30 to go!!!  It was a fabulous evening!

4th Rochford Scout Group's Mothers Day Parade on Sunday 31st March 2019

Although it’s officially Spring, it was still quite a chilly morning with a cold wind, but we had a great turnout of  Beavers, Cubs & Scouts to celebrate Mothers Day at the St. Andrew’s Church Parade in Rochford.   Over 20 children paraded with their parents and several Leaders to attend a lovely Service given by Associate Minister, the Rev. Sharon Guest.   3 of the Scouts donned Chef’s hats and made a Mothers Day Cake, which was actually cooked in the Church’s microwave oven!  The kids then presented their Mums with pots of pretty flowering Primulas as a “thank you” to them.
