AGM, Badges, Hot Dogs & Fireworks!!! Tuesday 7th November 2017

We had a fantastic turnout for this annual Group Event!!!  About 100 parents and their kids were all together in our newly refurbished hall with its extension and new toilets & wheelchair accessible shower room! (Final total was about £90,000 from large donations & fundraising events over the last 3 years!)

We were very honoured to be joined by the current Chairman of Rochford District Council, Cllr. Lesley Butcher, the Vice Chairman of Rochford District Council, Cllr. David Merrick and the Assistant District Commissioner for the Crouch Valley, John Barnard, who were all very impressed to hear about the fantastic activities that the whole Group do!

Investiture took place for 4 new Cubs to the Alpha Pack and there were lots of very proud Parents of children from the Beaver Colony, Alpha Cub Pack, Omega Cub Pack and Scout Troop after they were all presented with their various Activity Badges!

Also, 4 Cubs were presented with Certificates for achieving their Chief Scout’s Silver Award and one Young Leader was presented with her Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award from John Barnard, the Assistant District Commissioner for Crouch Valley.

Well done to all the kids who were presented with their badges & awards! A great achievement!  Combining the annual AGM with Badge presentations, followed by Hot Dogs & a brilliant Firework Display, made the evening a great success!

4th Rochford Scout Group attend Remembrance Day Service. Sunday 12th November 2017

There was a great gathering (totalling about 65) at St. Andrew’s Church in Rochford, of Leaders, Cubs & Scouts, along with their families for the Remembrance Day Service.  It was a pleasant sunny morning, for a beautiful service, conducted by the Revd. Canon Martin Wood. All the kids were very respectful at the Service and especially during the 2 minute silence. They laid a wreath at the Church to remember all those that lost their lives. Afterwards, the entire Group marched to the War Memorial in Weir Pond Road, Rochford, where they joined other members of the Public & Fire Service for another short Service by Revd. Canon Wood and to observe a further 2 minute silence, starting with "The Last Post" and finishing with "Reveille". They also laid another wreath at the foot of the Memorial.
