Speaking after the awards, Gail Emms MBE said: “I love being part of Sports Awards evenings like this that celebrate the dedication and hard work that athletes put in at a local level.
It’s also really encouraging to see coaches and volunteers rewarded for the time and effort they selflessly put in - helping young people achieve their sporting goals. I’m sure that tonight I’ve shaken hands with a few gold medal winners of the future!”
The Chairman of Rochford District Council, Councillor Mrs Joan Mockford, added: “It’s always an honour to be part of evenings like this. All of the winners, the nominees and everyone that entered deserves praise for representing the Rochford District and Castle Point Borough with such high achievements in their chosen sports. It’s been a humbling evening – with lots of inspirational stories. I look forward to seeing how their careers develop and wish them continued success in the future.”
