Development of a new health centre in St Luke’s given green light to commence

The local NHS is delighted to announce that plans to speed up the development of a brand new health centre in St Luke’s have been given the green light.

The redevelopment of Cumberlege Lodge will include the long-awaited permanent premises for St Luke’s GP practice.   It is hoped that the centre will also become a community hub that can be used by local groups and residents.

Local residents who live in one of the most densely populated areas in south east Essex will now benefit from a fit-for-purpose building that will offer more space allowing a greater range of support to be offered to improve the local health and wellbeing of the population.

Local GPs have been totally supportive of these developments and have been involved throughout the process.

Dr Sharon Hadley, GP partner at St Luke’s GP Surgery said

“We are very pleased that this development is finally going ahead, something the community desperately need and deserve. We will be able to provide a better service for our patients in a modern environment. The new centre will provide a major boost to the area and open up further possibilities to support the health and wellbeing of the residents in St Luke’s."
