Judging the Summer Holidays work Competition - Oct 2016

Being gluttons for punishment, the Group has again asked me to judge their Summer Holidays competition, a task given to a non-artist. My only qualifications are that I love looking at art and have followed this friendly and open group for over five years. However as I considered the excellence of the thirteen ‘paintings’ produced over the summer break I likened the task to being asked to measure the length of a large elastic band! The variety of subjects, mediums and styles made comparisons an impossibility. Each works stands out in a different way and at the end, forced to make a choice, I simply chose the three that hit the eye first when approaching the display. As always I stand in awe of artists but thoroughly enjoy looking at their work, so thank you to each of the contestants.
