4th Rochford Scouts Remembrance Day Church Parade!!!

8th November 2015

There was a fabulous gathering at St. Andrew’s Church in Rochford, of Leaders, Beavers, Cubs & Scouts (totalling about 50), along with their families for the Remembrance Day Service!

All the kids were very respectful at the Service and especially during the 2 minute silence. They also laid a wreath at the Church to remember all those that lost their lives.

Afterwards, the entire Group marched to the War Memorial in Rochford, where they joined the Fire Brigade, St. John’s Ambulance and other members of the Public for another short Service and to observe a further 2 minute silence.  They also laid another wreath at the foot of the Memorial.

(Editor’s note: Well done, Scouts, good to see you at the heart of the community’s life)

4th Rochford Scouts Presented with £450 cheque at Rochford Xmas Lights!

29th November 2015

The day of the Xmas Lights & Fayre got off to a terrible start for Rochford, when it was discovered at 7.30am that overnight, some undesirables had chopped down the Xmas Tree in the Square!!!

However, with help from local residents and emergency specialists brought in, it was re-erected in time for all the fun to start with street entertainers, side stalls, food kiosks and various acts on the stage!

Our 4th Rochford Scouts were presented with a cheque for £450 donated from the Rochford Chamber of Trade and Rochford District Council.

This will go towards our wheelchair accessible toilet/shower extension project! We now have £57,000 in the pot out of the £64,000 required!

Although it was terribly cold in the gale force winds, the rain held off and the crowds had a lovely afternoon browsing the stalls and watching the great entertainment on the stage!
