4th Rochford Scouts & Cubs St. George's Day Fun at the Peaceful Place! Tuesday 10th April 2018
6 Scouts & 4 Cubs went along with 2 Leaders & 2 Parents for a fun afternoon to the Peaceful Place Day Centre in Dalys Road, Rochford to help make red & white decorations for the upcoming St. George’s Day with the Members, who have Young Onset Dementia. The kids showed such patience and understanding to the Members, whilst helping them make paper chains, flags and decorate cards .
The Scouts and Members all coming together like this really makes a difference. It increases the confidence of the Scouts & younger Cubs and lets them see that there is nothing to be afraid of meeting people with Dementia. The Members loved having a visit from the youngsters, chatting and interacting with them. One of the Members when he was a teenager, even went to the 12th World Scout Jamboree in Idaho, America in 1967, which the kids loved hearing about. They were all so kind & caring and are a credit to 4th Rochford Group and to their Parents.
