4th Rochford Beavers & Scouts sing Carols at Broadoaks Care Home!

Tuesday 6th December 2016

Over 30 Beavers & Scouts were all in fine voice with their Leaders to entertain the Residents of Broadoaks Care Home in Rochford with all of their favourite Carols and Xmas Songs on this annual visit!

The ladies living there really enjoyed singing along with all of the children, whose ages ranged from just 5 to 16 years old.  The children showed kindness and respect to the Residents as they chatted to them afterwards.  They then enjoyed a well-earned drink, mince pies & sweets, kindly donated by the Co-op at Golden Cross in Ashingdon.

So, a big “thank you” to the Co-op and also to Broadoaks for making us so welcome as usual.  A great start to the Christmas festivities!

The Wolf Cubs (as they were then known) were founded on 16th December 1916. This National Event was timed to begin at 19.16 hours (7.16pm)  Various awards were presented to Cubs & Young Leaders, ranging from Cub Scout of the Year to the Chief Scouts Silver to Platinum Awards.  Pat Bailey, the District Commissioner, also invested 6 new Cubs into their local packs.  A special presentation was also made to 2 local Royal British Legion Representatives, who have worked with the Scouts on the Poppy Appeal.  The evening was finished off very nicely with some festive mince pies.
