The Group were excited to receive a donation for £1000 from the Lions Club of Rayleigh.

The cheque was presented to the Scout Group and one of our Cubs, Sam, by the immediate past President, Graham Roberts.

4th Rochford Scouts Summer Camp to Wales!!!

25th July-1st August!!!

Dolgellau in North Wales was the destination for this year's Summer Camp for 17 Scouts, 7 Young Leaders & 7 Adult Leaders and the horrendous weather didn't dampen their spirits (much)!!! (No more than 12-14 degrees celsius all week with very wet rain!!!)

Day 1: For most kids, the adventure started with the "longest train journey ever"! They arrived in time to enjoy some evening sunshine, so after setting up camp & pitching tents, they all set out to explore and walked down into the nearby little town!

Day 2: They braved the freezing cold wind & rain to climb a small mountain/hillock at Cregennan Lakes (where most made it to the top!!!)

Day 3: Another day of very cold, wet weather, but they saw amazing views on the Precipice Walk.

Day 4: Having so much rain ensured that the waterfalls were spectacular when the kids hiked to the Gold Mines!

Day 5: Nic from Woodlanders treated them to a Bushcraft Day on the foothills of Cader Idris, where the kids had fun learning survival skills!

Day 6: The weather brightened up a bit, so a small group visited CAT, the Centre for Alternative Technology, while most of the group climbed the very scenic Cader Idris!

Day 7: Another fair/decent day, so the kids returned to the Gold Mines and went panning for gold!!! (None returned home as millionaires unfortunately!)

They finished the week by going to the funfair at Barmouth!!!

Day 8: After an exhausting, but fun week, the kids were still smiling when waiting for the long train journey back to Rochford!!!
