A great time was had by all as usual.

4th Rochford Scouts at "Wild Woods Day"

on 30th May 2015

On Saturday, the older Scouts and Leaders took part in the "Wild Woods Day" in Hockley Woods!

They built an open fire and kept it alight and encouraged visitors to cook "Dampers" (traditional unleaven bread) on it!

Visitors were invited to hang out under the forest canopy in the special camp hammocks!   They made a Monkey Bridge, using just rope & poles and had over 350 young people cross over it!

One of the most popular activities of the day was (supervised!!!) Axe Throwing!!!

Over 100 adults and 200 kids had a go at this very unusual sport!!! There were even a few Bullseyes!!! Wild Woods Day was a roaring success and showed just how much interest there is in Scouting in this part of the World!!!

4th Rochford Cubs Masterchef & Sleepover!!!

29th-30th May 2015

The Cubs had a fun Sleepover in the Scout Hall on Friday night, but first they had to cook their own Masterchef style Supper!!!

Akela, Baloo and Hathi were on hand to check that everything went to plan! The kids really enjoyed chopping all the vegetables, with numerous saucepans at the ready! Their hard work paid off, as they all sat down to tuck into a hearty meal of Minced Beef, Potatoes & Carrots!   Then the not-so-fun bit was the washing up, but once they were all done, they went outside for a fun sing-a-long around the camp fire!  Before bed, the kids were treated to the Classic Cub Scout Movie, "The Jungle Book". It was reported that all of the Cubs were fast asleep by 11pm (not so for the Leaders unfortunately!) Then by 7am, still only 5 Cubs were awake!!!  After an early breakfast (and more washing up!), the kids wrote up healthy diet menus, before being supervised in learning how to iron their Group scarves! They then had a lunchtime snack to give them the energy for a "relaxing" game of Rounders!!! Boys Vs Girls. The Boys Won!!!  All in all, a brilliant 24 hours!!!
