4th Rochford Scout Murder Mystery Evening

Sat 7th May 2016

The 4th Rochford Scouts held a brilliant fundraiser, where the local Canewdon Players performed a play written by 2 local ladies, Toni Neobard & Kate Broad.  It was set in a spoof “Celebrity Eye Spy” House (like Big Brother) and was absolutely hilarious!!! Particular favourites with the audience were the Eastern European Pop Duo Twins, Tatiana & Anica, AKA “The Flirty Girls”!!!   But, there was also the “Hollywood actor” Garrick St. James, “former Politician” Hugo Hansard, “Struggling actor” Danny Drury, “Benefits Reality Show Star” Pale Bee, “Weather Presenter” Gail Force and “Rapper” Tuppa Ware!!! The “Chief Eye Spy” Copper was DCI Peter Probe! We raised a fantastic total of £855, of which £672 is going into the Keith Clifford Fund. He was our former Chairman, who sadly died a few months ago and the fund was set up to support members who couldn't otherwise afford to attend a Scouting event.  The remaining £183 raised from the Raffle, is going towards the cost of the Scouts Expedition to Bavaria in southern Germany this summer, where they will stay in a Castle (owned by German Scouts) and will stay with Scout groups from other countries!  Thank you to everybody that came along to support us and to the brilliant Cast! It was great fun!!!

4th Rochford Cubs Daytrip to Colchester Zoo!!!

Saturday 7th May 2016

It was the hottest day of the year so far and 25 kids from the Cub pack, but a couple of Beavers too, met their Leaders and a few Parents at Rochford Station, to board a coach at 8.30am for an exciting day out at Colchester Zoo!!!  They all took a picnic, but also enjoyed ice-creams to cool them down a bit, as it was an extremely hot day at 25 degrees celsius!!!  There were squeals of delight as the kids fed the Elephants & were sniffed by the Giraffes!!! Handling creepy-crawlies weren’t for the faint hearted!!!   They also had great fun watching the penguins, meerkats, sealions, zebras, hippos, tigers, lions etc! You name any animal and it was there!!!  The walk-through tunnel in the Aquarium was a big hit with them all too!!!  Lots of very tired children (and adults) boarded the coach to come home at 5pm after a fantastic day out!!!
