4th Rochford Scouts:  Cubs go up in the World - 15th September 2017

More than 20 girls and boys from 4th Rochford Alpha Cub Pack, aged between 8 and 10, spent their Friday evening learning how to climb on Belchamps Scout Centre's outdoor climbing wall. Once they got safely to the top, all of them summoned up enough courage to abseil rapidly and safely back to ground level. That takes a lot of pluck, and a lot of confidence in the people helping you.

A brilliant evening, was the verdict.

Scouts presented with £800 cheque from RDC!!! Wednesday 13th September 2017

The Scouts had a special visitor at their first meeting this week. Cllr. Carole Weston from Rochford District Council came along to present a cheque for £800 to the Group. We were one of 3 local Scout Groups chosen to receive this wonderful donation, raised from various events that she organised when she was the Chairman of RDC last year from May 2016 to May 2017. This will kickstart the much needed funds to refurbish the kitchen at the Scout Hall.  We’d like to say a big “Thank You” to everyone involved in raising this donation for us.

Cubs hone their DIY Practical Skills: 21 & 28 September 2017

4th Rochford’s Omega Cub Pack (Thursday pack) are currently working on their DIY skills as part of the DIY Activity badge that they’ve chosen to work for.

This week it was practice how to saw (safely) hammer nails in (straight) and screw in both Phillips and slotted screws in three bases, while other bases allowed them to work on designing the project they’ll each build next week.

One thing we hadn’t bargained for- modern children don’t all know what “clockwise” means; clocks are now nearly all digital!
