The start of the Rochford Art trail 2015. The pictures tell their own story.

Thursday September 17th 2015:  It’s a bright sunny morning and the gathering of artists in the Library at midday seems to bring the sunshine with it. There is a buzz of excitement with the anticipation of the week to come. Returning artist, Ann Bacon, has sold a picture from the Faith Shop window at 9.30am even before the Trail really gets under way!  Max has already conducted his first tour!

The Roche Art Group and the Haven Art Group are both represented, plus a number of solo artists, most of whom you should be able to identify from the individual  articles on them that you’ll find here on other pages. See how many you can recognise.

This year’s Trail was being officially opened by the Chairman of the Council, Councillor Heather Glyn, here seated (left) with Kerry Baker-Davis, this years Art Trail Coordinator, and then (right) in her own inimitable way Heather welcomes and thanks everyone and opens the Trail.

It was an entertaining few minutes,  as can usually be expected from Heather, followed by thanks from Kerry. Heather then made a point of talking to many of the artists about their work and their presence there. The Trail is now under way.

In the pages that follow we hope to cover each and every venue and artist and some of their work, but whatever you see here will not be as good as going and seeing it on site.  Do try and get along and see as much of the work as possible in the coming ten days.

And remember, Max Dolding and others will be on hand every day, except Sunday, to conduct one hour tours of the Trail, starting at 11.00am at the water trough in the Square. Watch out for Max (right) and feel free to join a group; it is free.

And before we finish, congratulations and thanks to both Kerry and Max for bringing together an even bigger group of artists this year. Thanks also to the artists and the shopkeepers involved in this year’s trail. As we have done a brief look around the trail already, there is some spectacular work on display around town.
