Treasurer Mick Clarke talks about the Club:
We moved here about fifteen months ago from Back Lane. It’s run by a Committee. My brother, Terry Clarke, is the Chairman, I’m the Treasurer and there are eight other committee members.
You don’t have to be a Conservative to be a member; you just come in and fill the forms in. The membership is £20 a year. The first year is £24 . You have to pay for the key fob for entry which is £3 and one £1 share, and it’s £20 after that.
For that you get the use of the Club and all that goes with it. The beer is cheaper than most places, we have entertainment normally twice a month on a Saturday night. We also do food, Monday to Saturday, 12.00pm to 2.30pm. It’s all home cooked food, as on the menu, and we do any combination of the main meals on that at £8 for two.
We have a Pool table here, a 40 inch TV for football or whatever. We will take on small functions and can take up to about sixty people. The Stewardess is Sandra Jones and she normally runs it. If you ring up, she’ll normally be the one you’ll talk to.
We also have a Quiz night, we have a darts team and a Crib team. Once a month we have a Financial Club get together and they have a meal, so there’s quite lot going on.
