Gold Investors in People award for Rochford District Council

Rochford District Council has become one of only 297 UK organisations to have been awarded Gold status by Investors in People (IIP).

Following a rigorous assessment by an independent assessor the Council was found to have fulfilled all but a very few of the 196 criteria necessary to attain the highest possible accreditation for training and developing its staff.

The award means Rochford has become one of only a small number of organisations in the country that has demonstrated a commitment to the learning and development of its employees and achieves best practice in people management.

In the report which confirmed the gold status, the assessor commented that Rochford is an organisation: “committed to ensuring equality of opportunity” and that “(staff) genuinely seemed enthusiastic about the Council and committed to its success.”

It added that: “Support to staff for work/life balance remains exemplary” and “(staff) generally believed that their career prospects had improved significantly as a result of the way they had been managed and developed”.

The Leader of Rochford District Council, Councillor Terry Cutmore, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and I’d like to congratulate everyone who has been involved in helping us achieve the gold standard from Investors in People. Rochford District Council has always placed a great deal of emphasis on the training and development of our staff. We firmly believe that if staff feel valued it has a positive effect on the way they provide services to our communities. Although we are a small organisation, officers at Rochford are committed to making a real difference to the communities they serve and it is a testament to the way in which staff are recruited, trained, developed and their careers progressed that we have been recognised in this way.”
