This evening the group had invited Judy Goring to come and demonstrate working with oil pastels - a hands on time where everyone put aside their usual work and, following Judy’s guidance, worked with pastels to create a ‘still life’.

Starting from an oval or circle, with shading to show light and shadow, developing to produce a single piece of fruit and then a collective pile if fruit, the evening encouraged each person, stage by stage, to advance with the use of the pastels. Clearly some of the men didn’t like pastels but overall the group made very appreciative noises about the experience. A very worthwhile exercise, appeared to be the judgment on the evening.
