Summer Plant & Produce Sale & the new Canopy : June 2014
As the year moves on Plant sales tend to turn into Produce sales and this one at the end of June proved no different. It is also good when the weather forecasters get it wrong and so it was good to have tables with plenty of produce (and some plants) on a bright and fairly warm sunny morning.
Perhaps we should place it on record that after a wet and windy Winter it is been an excellent Spring and early Summer with rain when needed (until just recently) and plenty of sunshine; wonderful growing weather as so many gardens and allotments testify!
But this wasn’t just a morning sale, it was also an opportunity to ‘open’ or acknowledge the new canopy courtesy of a gift from the family of the recently deceased Ron Wright. Lyn spoke of his commitment to the Allotment Association and on behalf of the members and committee thanked John for his design of the canopy and John and Roger for constructing it. Without doubt it will be an excellent addition to the facilities.
Cakes, jams, marmalades etc. with tea or coffee all helped provide a good atmosphere. The photos below tell the story.
