This group meets in St. Teresa’s Hall at 7.30pm on Wednesday evenings (that is the hall to the rear of St. Teresa’s Church, Ashingdon Road)

Roche Art Group’s Annual Exhibition (22nd October 2011)
The Group’s annual exhibition and sale of paintings was held this year on the 22nd October, the first day of the Rochford Art Trail (22nd - 29th). Led by member, John Cowley, it was possible to both display the Group’s paintings and also to set up an area for members to demonstrate their artistic ability. There was also a “make and take” area where visitors were encouraged to have a go at a single colour painting. This proved most popular with the younger visitors.
Part of this event involved a painting competition for St Teresa’s RC Primary School located within the same grounds and the Group was delighted with the resulting entries from Year 6 based on the theme of “my favourite things”, and all entries received a critique by a qualified primary school teacher with a keen interest in art.
Tariro Ngandu was chosen as the winner and, with six others selected as “highly commended”, was awarded a certificate and painting materials for future use. It was one of the highlights of the day when Tariro and her parents visited the exhibition.
Interest from the day has resulted in 6 new members. The Group is already thinking ahead to 2012 and membership enquiries are welcome. Please contact Gill on 01702 421737 or John on 07933 263930.
