Veterans enjoy afternoon show
More than 130 Veterans from across the Rochford District joined the Chairman of Rochford District Council, Councillor Simon Smith and the Member of Parliament for Rayleigh and Wickford, Mr Mark Francois, for an afternoon of film, music and laughter at The Sweyne Park School.
The audience were treated to a show called “Eyes Front” featuring Isla St Clair and filmmaker Patrick King who entertained the audience with a rich mix of light-hearted songs and stories with film clips and funny outtakes.
During the break, the Veterans enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea of cake and sandwiches provided by pupils from the King Edmund School.
The Chairman of Rochford District Council, Councillor Simon Smith, said: “It was so wonderful to see so many of our Veterans enjoying themselves, and a privilege for me to host this afternoon event as a way of saying thank you for serving their country with such honour and dignity.
I’m also delighted to say that during the course of the afternoon, more than £500 was raised for our local Poppy Appeal”
