Meet Tony Collins

Congratulations on being selected as a Torchbearer, how does it feel?
It feels great to be selected and I’m really looking forward to the experience.

Can you tell us about the selection process, how did you get involved?
I am a member of the Havering Mayesbrooke Athletics Club in Hornchurch and my name was put forward for selection by the club committee.

What do you think the highlight will be carrying the torch through Rayleigh?
I’m just so proud to be carrying the torch.

What are you most looking forward to at the London 2012 Games - apart from the Torch Relay of course!
We have tickets for the volleyball, basketball and Paralympic tickets for the athletics and basketball.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself, and what you like about Rayleigh?
I have been in the England and Great Britain Learning Disabled Athletics Squads for the last 15 years and have travelled all over the world representing my country. The only experience I have of Rayleigh is running in numerous cross country events which I thoroughly enjoy!
