The 2016 Rochford Trail started Monday 12th September & finished on Saturday 24th September

Welcome to our coverage of this year’s Rochford Art Trail. As you can see from above we have covered it here since 2013 and have sought, each year, to increase the coverage to display as much of the work of the artists as possible. This year’s Art Trail has been even bigger and better, as you’ll see from our table of participants, and the credit for that should go to Art Trail Coordinator Kerry Baker-Davis and Max Dolding who has created the official website for this year’s trail - http://www.rochfordarttrail.org/ - a glimpse of which we show below. If you scroll down you’ll see the links to all the Trail pages for this year

As we wrote in last year’s coverage the benefits of the Trail are

1. It is local and therefore if you live in Rochford it is easy to get to.

2. It is free. It costs nothing to wander around the town.

3. It is here for nearly two week so that makes it quite accessible (although the heat of week 1 worked against that!)

4. There is variety of art and of activity. (As you’ll see below there are even more ‘additional activities this year)

This year our coverage is slightly different in that we have not done lots of pre-trail interviews as in previous years and have instead restricted ourselves to covering the trail itself and instead of dealing with it by venue have ordered our coverage by artist in alphabetical order. Where possible on those pages we have sought to include contact details for artists so, where available, you can go to their website and see their work more extensively. To maintain a fairly light approach we have made our own comments along the way. As total fans of the Art Trail and the artists and their work, hopefully you will find every comment positive. Go to A-Z pages?

Rochford is not the idea place for doing displays in windows and as we have noted in previous years it is a real struggle to photograph some of the exhibits because of the reflections in a number of windows. When it comes to photographing paintings, you will excuse us when we try to cover well over two hundred paintings, if we do not set up a camera and tripod for each one to ensure exactly square shots. For that reason we apologise in advance if your painting has had an inch cut off it - we try to capture the feel of the bulk of the work. At the end of it all, we hope we have conveyed a reasonable amount of what was on display and opened a contact door to viewers to make subsequent contact with artists if they wish to follow-up on their work.

In addition to the static exhibits, we have also covered a card-making display in the Grey Goose, the card sale going on there, the Art Sale on the Middle Saturday and the Roche Art WI Exhibition on the last Saturday. Simply trying to cope with life has meant we have decided not to do a coverage of the several evening events shown below and have restricted ourselves to the art exhibition side of this year’s Trail. We hope you enjoy the trail and memories stirred on these pages.
