“The Making of a Wild-life Pool”
Because most won’t have seen the ‘goings on’ to bring about the new wild-life pool, we thought we would record the events of Saturday 12th May 2012 when the Meadow ceased to be just ‘The Meadow’ and started its journey towards becoming a new form of wild-life habitat
Early Morning: An untouched Meadow
Mid- Morning: The Digger has the shape cut out
Midday: The shape is now well defined, but....
.... if you’ve ever had the chain come off your bike... it’s NOTHING like this! A Brick has got under the track and knocked it off!
.... Dave has come to check it out and is beginning to wonder if his vision is ever going to come into being!
.... but Darren from D.K.Surfacing (07799866631) and his driver Andy, are not going to be put off. After half and hour’s struggle they have it back on and are back in business!
By late afternoon the pool shape is now here. It may not look impressive yet but this is a day’s work and although the photo doesn’t look much, this is basically the shape and depth required!
The mound (right) has yet to be cleaned up tomorrow and then it’s a case of getting the liner, decking, plants and sitting back and letting nature bring in the wildlife.
This is the sort of thing they’ve been battling with today. Not quite an archeological ‘dig’ but...
metal, bottles, bricks, stones... just what was here before?
... So there, Waterman’s, is your pond! Well not exactly, but it’s well on the way. What is going to be really exciting is to see what you are going to be able to make it and do with it with all the people helping you. We’re going to keep an eye on it over the coming months because we love wild-life. Have a great time with it!

...and by next day, the liner is down. All we need now is some water!
