Additional Information:

On the day the Sparks Will Fly champion, Boreas Zephyr arrives at Stansted – Rochford District Council is inviting everyone to come and cheer him on at Wild Woods Day in Hockley Woods on Saturday 2nd June 2012.
Boreas’ visit will be one of the highlights of an amazing day of FREE events and activities as Wild Woods Day hosts the Rochford leg of ‘Sparks Will Fly’!
‘Sparks Will Fly’ is the countywide cultural celebration of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and involves every district and borough in Essex.

Wild Woods Day is set to welcome a very special visitor as Boreas Zephyr will make an appearance and be part of a procession through Hockley Woods led by the world famous Bollywood Brass Band and an entourage of performers from the local Mushroom Theatre Company.
The procession starts at 1pm from the Main Entrance of Hockley Woods and will be followed by a performance and presentation of Rochford’s Glass Bead in the Woods.
On his visit to the Woods, Boreas will collect the glass bead which has been decorated by local artist Madelaine Murphy. Madelaine has worked with local groups to come up with a concept that best represents the District. She has worked with Millview Court, Greensward Academy, Great Wakering Teen Café and Downhall Primary School to create a stunning artwork inside the glass bead.
Wild Woods Day 2012 isn’t just about Sparks Will Fly though. There are plenty of sporting activities, workshops, dance and musical performances to keep you busy from 11am to 4pm.
If you’re the adventurous type – have a go at slacklining. Slacklining is the sport of walking and balancing along a small nylon rope. If you’re after a more relaxing activity, you can enjoy the creativity of artists who have been commissioned to display or perform as part of the London 2012 celebrations.
